On Monday, construction will begin on our 3 bay garage in the back yard! We already plan for one two post lift, and one 4 post lift for storing two vehicles. It’ll also have a giant workbench and a loft section for extra storage.
It will end up looking a bit like this, though it will have a gravel drive and a small concrete apron around it.
This also means we get to pull out ‘64 Impala and ‘72 Cadillac out of storage, and get them both back to running. Luckily, the Caddy only needs tires and possibly an engine refresh. The Impala needs a carb and all the associated troubles that come with those things.

My next house will have one of these or the space and budget for one.

I think all in its costing us somewhere in the $15-20k range (including a gravel drive, not including the lifts). It improves the value of the property, so I'd say it’s worth the investment.

Sweeeeeeeet! I have neither the funds nor the space, so I’m very jelly!

If you don’t mind me asking how much do the lifts usually cost?

Livin’ the dream! I really want to find an old firehouse and add a lift or two someday, there was one for sale a while back in my hometown for like $500k but I'm in CO now and I'm sure it'd be double that here.

My garage is not tall enough for a lift. How I wish I could tear it down and start from scratch! It’s a great opportunity to plan things out and put things just the way you want it.

My whole house was only $35k.

The two posts we are looking at run right around $2k for a 9k pound capacity and a top bar instead of a bottom bar. 4 posts are in the same range.

That’s really not bad

There was an Chicago fire house than went up for sale last winter for around that price on the west side. I wanted it so badly lol

Our garage wasn’t either. That’s why we got this new one. We also have a total of 9 cars and a RV, so we also need the space for parking.

Probably the one I'm thinking of lol

How tall are you building? Curious how tall it needs to be to accommodate a lift.

The ceilings are 12 foot. However, different lifts have different height requirements. The minimum size I’ve seen is 9'6", from a baseplate style lift.
This is the lift we are getting -
